In 2022, following a comprehensive brand refresh, Catch Des Moines partnered with Simpleview to bring their updated visual identity to life through a redesigned website. The primary goals were to effectively communicate the new brand, showcase Des Moines’ vibrant offerings, and provide a flexible platform to feature rich media content such as videos, blogs, events, and partner information. Enhancing user experience across all devices was also a key objective to ensure accessibility and engagement.
As the Lead Designer, I led the creation of a responsive website design system that embodied Catch Des Moines’ refreshed brand. Collaborating closely with the project art director, I implemented the design strategy to align with the client’s goals. I conducted on-site research in Des Moines to gain a deep understanding of the destination and worked directly with the client to define the website’s objectives. My responsibilities included executing the design process from concept to final implementation, ensuring the website was both visually appealing and highly functional.
The redesigned Catch Des Moines website successfully reflects the organization’s refreshed brand, offering a modern and responsive platform that highlights the city’s vibrant offerings. The flexible design system allows the client to easily feature diverse content, including rich videos, blogs, and events, thereby enhancing user engagement and showcasing Des Moines as a dynamic destination. The improved user experience across all devices has increased site accessibility and visitor interaction, supporting Catch Des Moines’ goals of promoting the city and engaging a broader audience.
